Laser Acne Treatment
Laser treatment and blue light therapy for acne are cutting-edge solutions to acne problems.
While you’ve probably seen movies or television shows where lasers can work miracles, in the real world, using lasers for acne treatment is still a new science. Studies are inconclusive and whether they truly work or not is questionable. Overall, more research needs to be done before laser treatment can truly be considered a viable option.
Blue Light Acne Therapy
Light wave therapy uses a high-intensity blue light that is passed over your skin. It works by killing off P. acnes, the acne-causing bacteria in your skin. Most people use blue light therapy as a last resort when other ‘traditional’ treatments don’t work. It does not use UV light, which was found to actually cause skin damage. That said, blue light therapy is not officially approved to fight acne, but studies are currently under way.
Since both laser treatments and blue light therapy require special equipment and procedures, it’s best to ask your doctor or dermatologist for the best course of action.
